03-22-12- Hello, my name is Ali. I am 14 months young and lovin it. My mom is pushing for me to start acting like an adult, but I say why rush it. They want me to start talking, but when you get everything you want just by point and whining I figure why bother. Plus, every time I cry at night someone comes in and cuddles with me. So I figure why not try it again tomorrow night.

I am a pretty active girl with lots of hobbies. I play Paddy Cake, I dance, and I love to play outside in the snow as much as possible except on Sundays. Because Sunday is when the Green Bay Packers play football and I love the Packers. All in all though, my favorite thing to do is annoy my Ma and Pa. I got them totally figured out. I just go looking for the two loudest objects I can find, and bang them together. Drives them bonkers.

I know some girls are picky eaters. My mom is super picky, but not me. I love those goldfish crackers, but I will eat just about anything you put in front me. I even tried “Mussels” once. Still not sure about those…

-ALI

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration today announced Coomes Oil & Supply Inc. has been cited in August’s explosion at a BP gas station.

According to an OSHA news release, a delivery driver for Florida Rock & Tank Lines was refilling an above-ground gasoline storage tank that had a broken gauge.

PICTURES: BP Gas Station Explosion

The tank overflowed. Vapors then combined with heat from the running delivery truck to trigger the explosion.

The OSHA inspection found that the gas station and Florida Rock & Tank Lines refilled the tank despite the inoperable liquid level gauging system.

OSHA has proposed a $70,000 fine be leveled against Florida Rock & Tank Lines along with a citation for one willful violation.

This violation is for “failing to provide the delivery driver to determine if the storage tank had enough capacity for additional gasoline.”

A “willful violation” is one committed with intentional knowing or voluntary disregard for the law’s requirements, according to the release.

In addition to Florida Rock & Tank Lines, Coomes Oil & Supply has also been issued a citation by OSHA. Coomes Oil & Supply has been cited for failing to provide employees and delivery drivers a mean to determine the gasoline levels in the above-ground storage tank, a “serious violation” according to OSHA.

Read the rest of the story at the source here

Too often broken gauges are ignored for years, never being repaired or replaced, the underlying danger going unnoticed. As the story above goes to prove, the danger is all to real. Don’t ignore that broken gauge.

In order to prevent breakage and weathering to a gauge, order a Krueger Sentry Level Gauge with the optional inner Glass Calibration and Gauge Guard. These two components, when combined, severely limit the possibility of weathering and breakage of your liquid level gauge.

02-22-12- Hello, my name is Trenton. My dada Cody Schmidt works for Krueger Sentry Gauge. I am 16 months old and I weigh in at 24lbs. My favorite Movie is Toy Story 3, but recently I watched Ice Age, and the dinosaurs were really neat. I am still trying to decide if I liked them or not. (Shhh, don’t tell anyone, but they were a little scary)

I love to climb up on the couch. It is pretty high up. So when I get up there I like to puff up my chest, hold up my hands, and say “Ta-dah”

The other day Dad got a new pet snake. It is a Ball Python named Violet. I think I like her, so I walked up to the tank and said “Snake, sssssss.” As far as introductions with snakes go, I think it went pretty good.

My favorite foods are Bananas and Apples. I run around the house asking for them “Nana, Apple”… And as you can see in the picture above, birthday cake is pretty awesome too. Can’t wait for birthday number two. More cake, yippy…

GREEN BAY – The annual teddy bear toss was a giant success again this year at the Resch Center.

Fans threw the stuffed animals on the ice at Saturday’s Gamblers hockey game after the first goal.

Even though the score was eventually overturned, the ice was covered with teddy bears.

The thirteenth year was the best so far, collecting almost 7,988 animals.

Last year’s event gathered a little more than 7,000.

And Monday, those bears were delivered to children at area hospitals.

(image: wcsh6.com)

A newspaper story on a struggling heating oil dealer’s benevolence has sparked a national outpouring of generosity for cash-strapped oil heat customers, the Huffington Post reports.

Ike Libby runs Hometown Energy, a fuel oil delivery business in Dixfield, Maine. Like countless heating oil dealers around the country, Libby is no stranger to the hardship faced by many of his customers and the difficulties they face paying winter fuel oil bills.

When pensioner Robert Hartford tried to hand over the title to his 16-year-old Lincoln Town Car in exchange for heating oil to prevent him and his disabled wife from freezing, Libby filled their tank without payment, rather than seeing the elderly couple go cold.

But he never expected the outpouring of generosity that would follow.

The story appeared on the front page of Saturday’s New York Times and appears to have struck a chord with readers across the country, many of whom immediately wanted to help.

On Monday morning, when Libby went to work, the cards, checks and credit card donations started rolling in. They now total more than $100,000 in cash to help heat impoverished customers’ homes, the Lewiston Sun Journal reports.

“I didn’t expect this to happen,” he said. “You can’t even put it into words. America’s got a heartbeat and we are hearing it.”

One of the letters read: “A donation to Hometown Energy. Good luck, thanks for caring.” It was a check for $5000.

“We struggle as a business,” Libby told WCSH. I’m getting some credit for this. [But] I’ve just been trying to do my job.”

An emotional Libby said he had set up a trust account for the money to make sure it goes to the people who need it most. Despite a near-record mild winter, heating oil prices remain stubbornly high on strong export demand, fears of supply disruptions from refinery closures and volatile world oil markets.

New law requires oil heat system upgrade – Boston Real Estate – Boston.com

Under a new Massachusetts oil heating law which went into effect on September 30, 2011, every homeowner with an oil heating system is required to install an oil safety valve or an oil supply line with protective sleeve in their system. The cost is approximately $150 to $350 depending on the system. The required upgrade is to prevent leaks from tanks and pipes that connect to your furnace. The upgrade will reduce the risk of an oil leak so by making a relatively small expenditure now, you can prevent a much greater expense in the future.Who Must Upgrade?
Owners of 1- to 4-unit residences that are heated with oil must already have or install an oil safety valve or an oil supply line with a protective sleeve. Installation of these devices must be performed by a licensed oil burner technician. Technicians are employed by companies that deliver home heating oil or are self-employed. It is important to note that heating oil systems installed on or after January 1, 1990 most likely are already in compliance because state fire codes implemented these requirements on new installations at that time.

Who Is Exempt? Homeowners are exempt from taking these leak prevention steps if: •	the oil burner is located above the oil storage tank and the entire oil supply line is connected to and above the top of the tank OR •	an oil safety valve or oil supply line with protective sleeve was installed on or after January 1, 1990, AND •	those changes are in compliance with the oil burning equipment regulations; a copy of the oil burner permit from the local fire department may be used to demonstrate compliance.

We hope everyone had a great holiday, and I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

A few quick facts from Wisconsin:

We did not have a price change this year, but we did vastly improve our price book. If you want one and don’t get one soon, let us know.

The Green Bay Packers are 15-1 and heading to the Playoffs. I would like to gloat that the Lions could not even beat us with our back up QB in the game, but that kind of bragging would be premature. Much like Suh’s silly celebration during the game when he got a sack. I will not stoop to such lows. Our goal is the Super Bowl.

The Wisconsin Badgers are in the Rose Bowl for the second straight year. Win or Lose, it has been a great year for them. I will be leaving work early today so as not to miss the game.

The fax machine had over a hundred orders on it this morning after our week off. After a strong 2011 it looks like 2012 is starting off pretty good.

It was below zero this morning when I came into work. Looks like winter is finally here. For those of you in Florida and other warm locales, when you call and tell me about your 80 degree weather it just makes me mad… So let’s just keep that to yourself…

Happy New Year to all from all of us at Krueger Sentry Gauge.

Inspectors from the state Department of Environmental Resources are ramping up efforts to find unregistered fuel storage tanks, as one local farmer discovered when he was recently fined by the DEP because he had not obtained a permit for his 8,000-gallon tank.

Why the increased scrutiny?

According to DEP spokesman Kevin Sunday, there was no one specific instance that sparked the agency’s actions to seek out unregistered fuel tanks.

“This is something that the department has been aware of for some time,” Sunday said, “and with the winter months coming up, we wanted to get everyone on board.”

The DEP’s effort, Sunday said, “is to make sure we register both in-ground and above-ground tanks that are not currently registered.”

So in October, DEP sent letters to 1,172 fuel oil providers across the state asking them to help find unregistered tanks. Fuel distributors are required to ask the tank owner to provide a DEP-issued registration certificate before any fuel (gasoline, diesel fuel or kerosene) can be placed in the tank.

“If the distributors deliver product to an unregistered storage tank, they are also liable for any damages” that may occur if fuel escapes from a leaky tank, Sunday said.

If DEP is not aware of unregistered tanks, it cannnot conduct routine inspections on them and the tanks could pose a threat to the environment if the tank or its pipes fail.

Pennsylvania DEP is ramping up it’s AST regulations.

First off, be sure your tank is registered:

Once your tank is registered, you need to be sure that you pass regular inspections.
